about.At the heart of Kevin McCarthy’s music, you’ll find welcoming tones of Americana, ensnaring listeners with his comforting, resonant, and heartfelt delivery that brings a fresh twist to tradition. Kevin, a Cleveland-based singer-songwriter, has roots in San Francisco and New York. His experiences in these cities, along with travels in between, have introduced him to an incredible cast of musicians who have contributed to his latest recordings and are touring with him this year. These collaborations have shaped his music, infusing his songs with authentic connections. McCarthy’s music draws comparisons to Uncle Tupelo, Wilco, Andrew Bird, and soulful singers like Jeff Buckley, Nick Drake, and Chris Whitley.
Since releasing his first EP, "Anchors Away," in 2003, Kevin McCarthy has continued to write and record exciting, explorative, and introspective songs. Following the pandemic, Kevin has crafted and compiled a wealth of new music, set for release in the coming months. Recorded on-location, at home, over the internet, and across the country, Kevin’s new work includes a full ensemble album featuring synths, accordion, melodica, saxophones, and a full post-jazz/rock band, as well as several intimate solo and duo acoustic tracks. He is touring in support of these recordings throughout the Midwest and East Coast in the fall of 2024 and spring of 2025. |
